Motorcycle Towing
Specialized towing for motorcycles, scooters, and two-wheeled vehicles with expert care.
Why Motorcycle Towing is Different
Motorcycles require specialized towing equipment and techniques that are completely different from car towing. You cannot use a standard tow truck or hook to move a motorcycle safely. Two-wheeled vehicles need proper balance, secure tie-downs, and equipment designed specifically for bikes. At GateRoad Doral Towing, we understand these unique requirements and have the right tools and training to handle your motorcycle with care.
The main challenge with motorcycle towing is keeping the bike upright and secure during transport. Unlike a car that sits flat on four wheels, a motorcycle can tip over if not properly balanced and strapped down. We use wheel chocks, soft tie-down straps, and specialized loading ramps to ensure your bike stays stable. Our drivers are trained in proper loading techniques that protect your motorcycle from scratches, dings, or mechanical damage.
Another important difference is weight distribution. Motorcycles have a higher center of gravity than cars, which makes them more susceptible to shifting during transport. We secure your bike at multiple points, including the handlebars, frame, and wheels. This multi-point securement prevents any movement and keeps your motorcycle in perfect condition throughout the journey. Whether you ride a cruiser, sportbike, touring bike, scooter, or dirt bike, we have experience handling all types of two-wheeled vehicles.
When You Need Motorcycle Towing
There are many situations where motorcycle towing becomes necessary. Unlike cars, motorcycles are more vulnerable to mechanical issues that can leave you stranded. Here are the most common reasons riders call us for towing:
Common Motorcycle Towing Situations:
- Mechanical Breakdown: Your engine stops running, the clutch fails, or you have transmission problems that prevent you from riding safely.
- Flat Tire: Motorcycles are harder to ride with a flat tire than cars, and attempting to do so can damage the rim. We tow your bike to a shop for tire replacement.
- Accident or Collision: If your motorcycle is involved in an accident, it likely cannot be ridden. We provide safe transport to a repair facility or your home.
- Dead Battery: While some motorcycles can be push-started, modern bikes with fuel injection often cannot. We tow your bike rather than risk damaging the electrical system.
- Fuel System Issues: Running out of gas or having a clogged fuel line can leave you stranded. We transport your motorcycle to where it can be refueled or repaired.
- Buying or Selling: When you purchase a motorcycle from a private seller or dealership, towing is often the safest way to get it home, especially if you are not comfortable riding it immediately.
- Seasonal Storage: Many riders store their bikes during winter or off-season. We can transport your motorcycle to and from storage facilities.
- Track Day Transport: If you race or track your motorcycle, we can transport it to the track so you do not have to ride it on public roads.
Motorcycle towing is also useful when weather conditions make riding dangerous. If you get caught in heavy rain, high winds, or other severe weather, we can pick up your bike and take it somewhere safe. Riding in bad weather is risky, and towing eliminates that risk entirely.
If you are injured or do not feel comfortable riding after a minor incident, we can tow your motorcycle even if it is still operational. Your safety is more important than riding the bike home. We also provide long-distance towing for motorcycles when you need to move your bike across cities or states.
How We Tow Your Motorcycle
Our motorcycle towing process is designed to protect your bike at every step. Here is what happens when you call us for motorcycle towing:
Loading Your Motorcycle
We use a flatbed truck or enclosed trailer designed for motorcycle transport. These vehicles have built-in ramps and wheel chocks that keep your bike stable during loading. Our driver carefully rolls or pushes your motorcycle up the ramp and into the chock. The chock holds the front wheel in place so the bike stays upright without anyone having to hold it.
Securing Your Bike
Once your motorcycle is in position, we use soft tie-down straps to secure it. We attach the straps to solid points on your bike's frame, never to fragile parts like turn signals or mirrors. The straps are tightened to compress the suspension slightly, which keeps the bike from bouncing during transport. We also use additional straps on the rear of the bike to prevent any side-to-side movement. This securement method is recommended by motorcycle manufacturers and ensures your bike arrives without a scratch.
Safe Transport
During transport, our drivers take extra care to avoid sudden stops, sharp turns, and rough roads. We drive smoothly and check your motorcycle periodically to make sure nothing has shifted. If we are transporting your bike a long distance, we stop periodically to inspect the tie-downs and make adjustments if needed.
Unloading at Your Destination
When we arrive at your destination, we carefully release the tie-downs and roll your motorcycle down the ramp. We check for any issues and make sure your bike is secure and ready for you. If you want, we can roll it into your garage or storage area. We treat every motorcycle like it is our own because we know how much your bike means to you.
We also offer enclosed transport for high-value motorcycles, custom bikes, and vintage classics. Enclosed trailers protect your bike from weather, road debris, and prying eyes during transport. This is the same method used for transporting show bikes and expensive collector motorcycles. If you need flatbed towing for other vehicles in addition to your motorcycle, we can coordinate that as well.
